Advanced Laser Therapy
(Photobiomodulation / PBM)
Advanced Healing Technology. Specialist Expertise. Real Results.
What is Advanced Laser Therapy (PBM)?
Advanced laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of therapeutic light to help reduce pain, calm inflammation and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Unlike heat-based treatments, PBM works through targeted light energy at a cellular level rather than simply warming tissue. This can help support tissue repair, improve comfort and assist recovery across a wide range of musculoskeletal and rehabilitation conditions.
At Hands UP Rehab, this therapy is delivered using an advanced Class IV therapeutic laser system, allowing efficient treatment of both superficial and deeper tissues as part of an evidence-based rehabilitation approach.
Why Choose Hands Up Rehab?
Hands UP Rehab was the first hand therapy practice in Australia to introduce advanced Class IV therapeutic laser technology using the K-Laser Specialé Plus.
But advanced technology is only as effective as the clinician using it.
At Hands UP Rehab, laser therapy is delivered as part of a broader evidence-based rehabilitation approach — not as a standalone quick fix. We combine specialist upper limb expertise with advanced therapeutic laser technology to create tailored treatment plans that support pain relief, tissue healing and recovery.
While our core expertise is hand and upper limb rehabilitation, PBM may also be used in selected broader musculoskeletal presentations when clinically appropriate.
We work collaboratively with your healthcare team — including your GP, surgeon, physiotherapist, chiropractor, chiropractor, podiatrist and other allied health providers — to support the best possible rehabilitation outcomes.

Why We Use the K-Laser Speciale Plus
At Hands UP Rehab, we selected the K-Laser Speciale Plus because not all therapeutic laser systems are created equal.
This premium Class IV therapeutic laser platform, engineered in Italy, offers advanced clinical versatility, adaptive safety technology and efficient treatment delivery across a wide range of musculoskeletal and rehabilitation presentations.
Advanced Technology That Matters
Six therapeutic wavelengths
The K-Laser Speciale Plus delivers six therapeutic wavelengths across blue, red and near-infrared light. This allows treatment to be tailored to different tissue types, depths and clinical goals.
Flexible treatment control
Wavelengths can be delivered individually or in combination, giving your therapist greater flexibility to tailor treatment to your presentation.
Adaptive safety technology
Built-in smart sensors continuously monitor treatment conditions — including temperature and tissue response — to support safe, individualised treatment.
Efficient treatment delivery
Its high-power Class IV platform allows therapeutic energy to be delivered efficiently while keeping sessions practical, comfortable and clinically effective.
How It Works
The laser delivers specific wavelengths of light energy into tissue, where it is absorbed by cells and stimulates beneficial healing responses that help to:
-
relieve pain
-
reduce inflammation
-
accelerate repair in muscles, tendons and ligaments
-
support recovery after injury or surgery
